- This shirt is based on the Aloha Shirt worn by William Katt in the classic film 1978 surf film, Big Wednesday. He wears this pattern in the party scene. When I watched this film on television in 1983 and the scene and the shirt, I guess start my own journey into Aloha Shirts. You could say this was the origin of Kona Bay Hawaii.
